Last week, I was able to spend a bit more time at home andwas able to work out of our Montreal Office. It seems like every time I get to spend more time at home, I come home sick and this time was no exception. I come home to my other half with chest and sinus congestion and fatigue.
This month has been insanely busy as I continue to backfillfor multiple vacant roles on the team while executing multiple events, which required extensive travel all within the timeframe of a week. Whenever I fully immerse myself in work and school, I tend to over do it and not take care of myself and end up sick.
This year as part of my personal development, I have set the goal of listening to an audio book a month to help further, my well being or my career advancement. I have four hours a week of travel time in the car back and forth to Ottawa; listening to books is effective time management. This month’s book, Lean in by Sheryl Sandberg. This book has been on my bucket list for a while but never found the time to read it. I am a few chapters in and I can see how this message may have been misconstrued if you did not actually read the book. In order for women to Lean In, they need support in every area of their lives including at home.
This week I realized how lucky I am to have a partner that supports me in every way possible, he reminds me to take care of myself while taking care of me. Thursday I come home to all of my laundry being done, he has picked up my dry cleaning and he has prepped dinner for the night. On a social media, we would hashtag this as relationship goals. I am thankful to have someone who allows me to be my workaholic self, and then will pick up the pieces when I do too much.
